Trump Demands Immediate Closure of Department of Education: 'A Big Con Job'

President Donald Trump has called for the immediate closure of the Department of Education, labeling it a ‘big con job’ due to its poor performance and high costs.

President Donald Trump has once again made headlines by calling for the immediate closure of the Department of Education. In a recent statement, Trump described the department as a ‘big con job,’ pointing out the stark contrast between the U.S. education system’s global ranking and its spending.

Trump highlighted that the United States ranks 40th in education among top countries worldwide but leads in costs per pupil. ‘We spend more per pupil than any other country in the world, but we’re ranked number 40,’ Trump stated, emphasizing the inefficiency of the current system.

The President criticized the performance of countries like Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and even China, which rank much higher despite spending less. ‘That’s a primary competitor. We’re ranked number 40 — so, if we’re ranked number 40, that means something’s really wrong, right?’ he questioned.

Trump proposed returning education responsibilities to the states, suggesting that many states could perform as well as top-ranking countries. ‘I say send it back to Iowa, to Idaho, to Colorado,’ he said, advocating for a decentralized approach to education.

Previously, Trump had suggested appointing Linda McMahon to lead the Department of Education with the task of winding it down. ‘What I want to do is let the states run schools,’ Trump reiterated, emphasizing his belief in school choice and state control over education.

This bold move by Trump aims to address what he sees as a fundamental flaw in the federal government’s approach to education, pushing for a more efficient and effective system by empowering states.
