President Trump's 2025 Congress Address: Viewers Overwhelmingly Approve and Feel Inspired

A recent CBS News/YouGov poll reveals that a large majority of viewers who watched President Trump’s 2025 joint address to Congress were highly approving and felt inspired by his message.

In a clear demonstration of effective leadership, President Trump’s recent joint address to Congress has struck a chord with the American public. According to a CBS News/YouGov survey, a significant majority of the viewers who tuned in to watch the speech on Tuesday night were overwhelmingly positive about what they heard. The speech resonated particularly well with Republican viewers, a testament to President Trump’s ability to connect with his base.

Viewers described President Trump as ‘presidential’ and ‘inspiring,’ with many also noting the speech’s unifying tone over divisive rhetoric. It’s clear that the President’s focus on issues that matter to everyday Americans struck a chord, with most viewers feeling ‘hopeful’ and ‘proud’ after the address. The entertainment value of the speech was also not lost on the audience, with a big majority calling it ’entertaining.’

While the speech was well-received by most, it’s worth noting that the Democratic viewers who did watch had a different reaction, with many feeling ‘worried’ and a significant portion feeling ‘angry.’ However, this did not detract from the overall positive reception of the address.

Coming into the speech, viewers expressed a desire to hear about plans for lowering prices, and President Trump delivered on this front. Two-thirds of those who watched believe the President has a clear plan for tackling this issue. Furthermore, the majority of viewers approved of the President’s plans on immigration, wasteful government spending, and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. While a slightly smaller majority appreciated his stance on tariffs, most felt that the President accurately described the crime problem in the U.S.

The survey also highlighted the viewers’ approval of the Speaker of the House’s decision to have a member of Congress removed from the chamber for interrupting the President’s speech, showing respect for the solemnity of the occasion.

This CBS News survey, based on 1,207 interviews of adults who watched the address, underscores the effectiveness of President Trump’s communication and his ability to inspire and unite a large portion of the American public.
