Trump Thanks El Salvador for Deporting Alleged Gang Members
Former President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to El Salvador for accepting hundreds of alleged migrant criminals deported from the U.S., highlighting his administration’s tough stance on immigration.
In a recent social media post, former President Donald Trump thanked El Salvador and its President Nayib Bukele for their cooperation in deporting hundreds of alleged migrant criminals from the United States. The move comes after Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which facilitated the deportation of these individuals without a hearing.
Trump specifically praised Bukele for understanding the severity of the situation, which he attributed to the ‘incompetent Democrat leadership.’ He referred to the deportees as ‘monsters sent into our Country by Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats.’
According to a senior Trump administration official, a total of 261 illegal aliens were deported to El Salvador, including 137 under the Alien Enemies Act, 101 Venezuelans under Title 8, and 21 Salvadoran MS-13 gang members, along with two MS-13 ringleaders considered ‘special cases’ for El Salvador. The criminal records of those deported included serious offenses such as kidnapping, sexual abuse of a child, and aggravated assault.
Despite a federal judge’s order to stop the deportations, the planes carrying the migrants were already outside U.S. airspace, as confirmed by the Trump administration. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the action, stating that the order came too late and had no lawful basis.
Upon arrival in El Salvador, the migrants were transferred to a ’terrorism confinement center’ where they will be held for at least a year. President Bukele shared footage of the heavily-armed authorities managing the transfer and emphasized the significance of these actions in making the prison system self-sustainable and gathering intelligence to combat organized crime.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also expressed appreciation for Bukele’s cooperation, calling him a ‘great friend of the U.S.’ and a strong security leader in the region.
