JD Vance Appointed RNC Finance Chair to Boost Republican Majority in 2026

Vice President JD Vance has been appointed as the new finance chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), with a mandate to grow the GOP’s majority in Congress by 2026.

In a historic move, Vice President JD Vance has been unanimously confirmed by the RNC Executive Committee to serve as the organization’s finance chair. This marks the first time a sitting vice president has taken on such a role within the GOP. Vance’s appointment comes with a clear mission: to ‘fully enact the MAGA mandate’ and enhance the Republican majority in Congress ahead of the 2026 elections.

Vance expressed his commitment to this goal, stating, “But to fully enact the MAGA mandate and President Trump’s vision that voters demanded, we must keep and grow our Republican majorities in 2026.” He emphasized the importance of aggressive fundraising to prepare for the upcoming electoral battles.

President Donald Trump praised Vance’s new role, saying, “JD will do a fantastic job as RNC Finance Chair. He knows how to fight and win tough races.” Trump expressed confidence in Vance’s ability to work alongside RNC Chair Michael Whatley to secure victories in the next election cycle.

Whatley, who has been re-elected as RNC chair, lauded Vance as “the definition of an American success story” and a key figure in reshaping the GOP to represent working Americans. He highlighted Vance’s role in helping President Trump achieve his agenda and expressed gratitude for the leadership provided by both Trump and Vance.

Vance succeeds Richard “Duke” Buchan III, who has been appointed ambassador to Morocco by Trump. Whatley acknowledged Buchan’s significant contributions to the RNC and the GOP, particularly in supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign.

As the RNC gears up for the 2026 elections, Vance’s appointment signals a strong alignment between the White House and the RNC, with a focus on expanding Republican influence in Congress.
