Trump Announces Boeing to Build F-47 for U.S. Air Force

President Donald Trump announced that Boeing will build the next-generation fighter jet, the F-47, for the U.S. Air Force, marking a significant step in the nation’s defense strategy.

In a statement from the Oval Office, President Trump, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, unveiled the decision to move forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet, named the ‘F-47.’ Trump emphasized the aircraft’s unmatched capabilities, stating, “Nothing in the world comes even close to it.” The F-47 project, which has been secretly in development for nearly five years, was awarded to Boeing after a competitive selection process involving several top American aerospace firms.

The announcement comes as part of the revived Next Generation Air Defense (NGAD) initiative, which had been paused under the previous administration. Trump’s decision to reinstate the program reflects his administration’s focus on re-establishing American military dominance globally. Defense Secretary Hegseth praised the move, noting its significance in signaling unwavering commitment to allies and deterrence to adversaries. He highlighted that the F-47 would be supported by advanced robotic wingmen developed by Anduril Industries and General Atomics.

During the announcement, U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin described the F-47 as a symbol of “peace through strength” and thanked the president for his leadership in pushing forward this critical defense project. The development of the F-47 is expected to enhance the U.S. Air Force’s capabilities significantly, ensuring the nation’s ability to project power globally for future generations.
