Sanders Praises Trump's Fentanyl and Border Policies

Senator Bernie Sanders has expressed approval of President Donald Trump’s approach to fentanyl and border security.

In a recent interview on ABC’s ‘This Week,’ Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., commended President Donald Trump’s efforts in cracking down on fentanyl and strengthening border security. Sanders acknowledged the importance of these measures, stating, ‘I mean, I think cracking down on fentanyl, making sure our borders are stronger.’

Despite his previous campaign promises during the 2020 presidential race, which included dismantling U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Sanders has shifted his stance. He now emphasizes the need for comprehensive immigration reform while maintaining that illegal immigration is not appropriate.

Sanders criticized the potential mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, warning that such actions would ‘destroy the entire country.’ He highlighted the critical role undocumented workers play in the U.S. economy, particularly in agriculture and meatpacking industries.

When confronted with a comment about the rise of illegal immigration under President Biden, Sanders admitted that the administration ‘should have done much better.’

Currently, Sanders is on his ‘Fighting Oligarchy Tour,’ joined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for events in Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado. At a rally in Arizona, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized inclusivity and the importance of fighting for others, regardless of political differences.

Sanders’ comments on Trump’s policies reflect a nuanced view on immigration and border security, balancing between criticism and acknowledgment of certain efforts.
