Pam Bondi Warns Against Attacks on Elon Musk and Tesla
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning to Rep. Jasmine Crockett following comments about targeting Elon Musk and Tesla.
In a recent appearance on ‘Sunday Morning Futures’, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed the escalating tensions surrounding Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk. Bondi’s comments were in response to statements made by Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who suggested during a nationwide call with the Tesla Takedown movement that Elon Musk should be ’taken down’ on her upcoming birthday, aligning with a planned ‘Global Day of Action’ against the company.
Bondi, emphasizing Crockett’s role as an elected official, urged her to ’tread very carefully’. She reassured that nothing would happen to Elon Musk and expressed her commitment to protecting Tesla owners nationwide. This comes amid reports of widespread vandalism against Tesla vehicles and dealerships, which have faced arson, gunfire, and defacement in at least nine states, as reported by the FBI.
The Tesla Takedown movement, which Crockett referenced, positions itself as a ‘peaceful protest platform’ urging Tesla owners to sell their vehicles and investors to divest from the company’s stocks. Crockett clarified that her call to action was meant to be nonviolent and focused on fighting for democracy, not inciting physical harm.
However, Republican critics have accused Crockett of promoting violence against Tesla with her rhetoric. In response to the vandalism, the Justice Department has intensified its efforts, with three individuals now facing up to 20 years in prison on charges of ‘domestic terrorism’ for their alleged roles in damaging Tesla vehicles and EV charging stations.
Bondi emphasized the severity of the legal consequences, stating that the department would not back down from these charges and was investigating the possibility of a coordinated effort behind the attacks. As tensions continue to rise, the situation remains a focal point for discussions on corporate responsibility, public safety, and the limits of protest.
