Trump Considers Pardon for Hunter Biden's Ex-Business Partner
President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a full pardon for Devon Archer, the former business partner of Hunter Biden, following a recent meeting at a wrestling event.
Devon Archer, who previously served on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma alongside Hunter Biden, met with President Trump at the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia. During the encounter, Archer received what he described as ‘very encouraging words’ regarding a possible pardon. Trump later confirmed to the New York Post that he intends to grant Archer a ‘full pardon,’ stating that Archer was ‘screwed by the Bidens’ and unfairly targeted.
Archer’s legal troubles stem from a 2018 conviction for defrauding a Native American tribe through a scheme involving fraudulent tribal bonds. Despite his conviction being overturned and then reinstated, and an appeal rejected by the Supreme Court, Archer maintains his innocence, claiming he was a victim of financial fraud and a whistleblower’s actions against Hunter Biden.
In testimony before the House Oversight Committee in 2023, Archer detailed the influence of the Biden family ‘brand’ in business dealings, including instances where then-Vice President Joe Biden was put on speakerphone during meetings. Although Archer noted that ’nothing of material was discussed,’ his comments fueled Republican investigations into allegations of influence-peddling by the Biden family.
The potential pardon comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the Biden family’s business activities, with House Republicans having investigated claims that the Bidens and their associates received over $20 million from foreign entities between 2015 and 2017. An impeachment inquiry report released last year accused President Biden of ‘impeachable offenses,’ though it did not identify specific criminal acts.
As Archer awaits resentencing later this year following a technical overturning of his 2022 sentence, the possibility of a presidential pardon from Trump adds a new dimension to his legal and political saga.
