Elon Musk's Approval Ratings Plummet Amid Controversial Role in Trump's Administration

Recent polls indicate a significant decline in public approval for Elon Musk, serving as a key advisor in Donald Trump’s administration.

Elon Musk, known globally as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has taken on a highly visible role in President Donald Trump’s administration, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, recent national polls reveal a stark public disapproval of Musk’s involvement. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, only 39% of Americans view Musk favorably, with a stark 57% holding an unfavorable opinion. Similarly, a Marquette Law School survey showed 41% approval against 58% disapproval of Musk’s work at DOGE.

Musk’s efforts to streamline federal agencies and reduce government spending have been met with mixed reactions. While some applaud the initiative to cut wasteful spending, a significant portion of the public, as per a Quinnipiac University survey, believes that Musk and DOGE are detrimental to the country. This sentiment is echoed in a Fox News poll, where 58% disapproved of Musk’s performance at DOGE.

The controversy surrounding Musk’s role has not been limited to public opinion. His involvement in the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court election, where he spent approximately $20 million supporting the conservative candidate, has drawn criticism and may have contributed to the candidate’s unexpected 10-point loss. Musk’s actions, including handing out million-dollar checks at a rally, have further fueled the debate over his influence and political strategy.

As Musk prepares to step back from his role at DOGE later this spring, the White House has confirmed that his departure is on schedule. Despite Trump’s continued support, Musk’s political baggage appears to be weighing heavily on his public image, with Democrats increasingly targeting him in their political campaigns.
