Navarro Dismisses Feud with Musk: 'Everything's Fine'
Peter Navarro downplayed his recent public spat with Elon Musk, emphasizing their strong relationship despite Musk’s harsh criticisms.
White House trade advisor Peter Navarro recently addressed the public feud with billionaire Elon Musk, asserting that their relationship remains ‘great’ and dismissing any concerns about the conflict. The tension arose after Navarro described Musk’s Tesla as more of a ‘car assembler’ than a manufacturer, a statement that provoked Musk to label Navarro a ‘moron’ and ‘dumber than a sack of bricks’ on social media.
Navarro’s comments, which highlighted Tesla’s reliance on parts from countries like Japan, China, and Taiwan, sparked a fiery response from Musk, who defended his company’s status as having ’the most American-made cars.’ Despite the heated exchange, Navarro appeared on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ to clarify the situation, stating, ‘First of all, Elon and I are great. It’s not an issue.’
Navarro also praised Musk’s contributions to the Trump administration, particularly in addressing waste, fraud, and abuse, suggesting that Musk’s efforts were a ’tremendous contribution to America.’ The White House echoed Navarro’s sentiments, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt describing the feud as a demonstration of President Donald Trump’s openness to diverse opinions within his administration. Leavitt humorously remarked, ‘Boys will be boys,’ indicating the administration’s willingness to let the public sparring continue while maintaining transparency.
