New Mexico Man Charged in Arson Attacks on Tesla and GOP Headquarters

Jamison Wagner, a 40-year-old from Albuquerque, has been charged with arson attacks on a Tesla dealership and the Republican Party headquarters in New Mexico.

Jamison Wagner faces two counts of malicious damage or destruction of property by fire or explosives following his arrest over the weekend. The attacks occurred on February 9 at the Tesla Albuquerque Showroom, where two vehicles were damaged, and on March 30 at the Republican Party New Mexico (RPNM) office, which saw significant damage to its front door and entry. Evidence collected from both scenes included similar graffiti and materials used in the attacks, pointing to Wagner as the suspect. Authorities found substantial evidence linking Wagner to the crimes during a search of his home, including materials consistent with those used in the arsons.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi emphasized the seriousness of these crimes, stating, “Let this be the final lesson to those taking part in this ongoing wave of political violence. We will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we will not negotiate. Crimes have consequences.” The New Mexico GOP condemned the attacks as part of a broader pattern of politically motivated violence, expressing gratitude towards law enforcement for their diligent efforts in apprehending Wagner.

The incidents have reignited discussions on the safety of political establishments and businesses linked to high-profile figures like Elon Musk, with Tesla facilities reportedly being targeted due to Musk’s political affiliations. The Justice Department and local law enforcement continue to investigate, emphasizing their commitment to preventing further attacks and ensuring justice for those affected.
