Poll Reveals Strong Opposition to Trump's Third Term Ambitions
A recent poll indicates that a significant majority of Americans, including a majority of Republicans, oppose President Donald Trump’s hints at running for a third term.
President Donald Trump has been vocal about the possibility of running for a third term in office, despite the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment explicitly prohibiting more than two terms. During a rally in Nevada and in various media interactions, Trump has expressed the desire to serve beyond the two-term limit, stating, “It will be the greatest honor of my life to serve, not once but twice or three times or four times.” However, a new Reuters/Ipsos national survey conducted between April 16-21 reveals stark public opposition to this idea. The poll, which surveyed 4,306 U.S. adults, found that three-quarters of respondents believe Trump should not seek a third term. Surprisingly, even within his own party, 53% of Republicans polled felt the same way. This public sentiment is a clear message against Trump’s third term aspirations, highlighting the constitutional and popular barriers he would face.
