VP Vance Urges Russia and Ukraine to Accept US Peace Proposal
Vice President JD Vance issued a stern warning to Russia and Ukraine during his visit to India, insisting that both nations accept a US-proposed peace deal or face the possibility of the US withdrawing from mediation efforts.
During a recent visit to India, Vice President JD Vance emphasized the urgency of resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has lasted over three years. Vance revealed that the United States had presented both countries with a clear proposal aimed at ending the hostilities. He stressed that it was crucial for Russia and Ukraine to accept the proposal, or the US might reconsider its involvement in the peace process. “We’ve issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and Ukrainians, and it’s time for them to either say yes or for the U.S. to walk away from this process,” Vance stated.
The Vice President’s remarks follow Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision to skip peace talks in London, citing logistical issues. Rubio plans to reschedule his visit to the UK in the coming months to continue discussions. In his absence, General Keith Kellogg, the special presidential envoy for Ukraine, will represent the US at the London talks.
President Donald Trump has been vocal about his desire for a ceasefire, expressing confidence in the US’s ability to broker peace. However, security experts remain skeptical, pointing to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reluctance to seek peace. Trump has attempted to lure both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into negotiations by highlighting potential economic benefits post-conflict.
The situation remains tense, with both nations recently accusing each other of violating a temporary Easter ceasefire. As the international community watches closely, the pressure is on Russia and Ukraine to respond to the US proposal and potentially end the protracted conflict.
