Black Trump Voters Reaffirm Support, Cite Border Policies and Political Disillusionment

Three Black voters who supported Donald Trump in the 2020 election told CNN they would vote for him again, highlighting their reasons ranging from border security to dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party.

In a recent segment aired on CNN’s ‘Anderson Cooper 360’, three Black voters expressed unwavering support for former President Donald Trump, indicating they would cast their ballots for him again if given the chance. Kyasia Kraft, who switched her vote from against Trump in 2016 to for him in 2020, emphasized her stance by saying, “One thousand percent, absolutely yes.” Similarly, Detra German, who initially voted for Hillary Clinton but then supported Trump, also confirmed her decision, stating she would not hesitate to vote for Trump again.

The third voter, Seth Dawkins, whose family traditionally leans Democratic, cited Trump’s border policies as a significant factor in his decision. Dawkins expressed concern over illegal immigrants receiving benefits that he feels should be prioritized for American citizens. “For me, I like the border,” Dawkins said, pointing out the drastic reduction in illegal crossings under Trump’s administration as evidence of effective policy implementation.

These voters also shared a broader disillusionment with the political landscape. German noted she is not strictly aligned with either party and would consider voting Democrat if a candidate’s policies better matched her views. Kraft voiced frustration with what she sees as inaction within the Black community and highlighted issues with law enforcement attitudes as areas of concern.

The segment sheds light on the diverse reasons some Black voters support Trump, from specific policy endorsements to a general dissatisfaction with political narratives and actions. This insight into voter sentiment underscores the complex and varied factors influencing political choices in the American electorate.
