Trump Highlights Record Low Border Crossings in NBC Interview

During a recent interview with NBC, President Trump questioned the host about the appeal of reporting on the historically low border crossings under his administration.

In a Sunday interview on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’, President Donald Trump engaged in a detailed conversation with host Kristen Welker, where he emphasized the security of the U.S. border. Trump asked Welker if it didn’t sound ‘good’ to report that border crossings were at record lows, a stark contrast to what he described as the mismanagement during the Biden administration. He stated, “When you say that, doesn’t it just sound good? After being abused for years by an incompetent president that allowed people to pour through an open border… isn’t it a beautiful thing when you say it’s the most secure it’s ever been in the history of our country?” This comment reflects Trump’s ongoing narrative of having strengthened border security.

Welker also inquired about Trump’s emergency declaration over the border crisis and his plans regarding it. Trump responded by asserting that the border situation was no longer an emergency but part of a broader issue involving judicial delays in deportations. He firmly stated that he had no intention of lifting the emergency order, indicating continued strict border policies.

Additionally, Trump dismissed speculations about seeking a third term, clarifying that such a move might not be constitutional and was not something he was considering. The White House, in a separate event, celebrated Trump’s first 100 days, focusing on efforts to combat illegal immigration, with border czar Tom Homan and press secretary Karoline Leavitt announcing significant decreases in border crossings and new executive orders aimed at enhancing deportations and border enforcement.
